SHANNON BOLEN ART WELCOMES YOU

Shannon Bolen is a self-taught colored pencil artist living in Southern Oregon, specializing in wildlife and botanical subjects. She first discovered colored pencils while attending High School but set is aside for many years while school, career and family took priority.  Then one day she dusted off the colored pencils and thought “I wonder if I can still do this?”   She thinks she surprised herself most of all.  She loves colored pencils because, while it is a slow medium, the results one can get are amazing, photo-realistic, detailed and vibrant.  She finds it’s a versatile medium that can produce results that mimic oil paintings, watercolor and anything in between.  She loves the challenge and reward of colored pencil and seeks to create beautiful things inspired by the natural world with bold use of color and realistic detail.
